1920's Antique Alaska Cast Iron Ice Box : Salesman Sample/Toy PRE PATTEN! HUBLEY.
This is an antique 3 door Hubley Alaska Cast Iron ice box. It is in very good vintage condition. This sample has much more paint than Im used to seeing. The paint is chipped in many areas giving it that antique look. This is not a reproduction. It is 100 years old.
Pictures closely. The icebox is marked Alaska at the top of the doors. All three doors do come off. Each one has two hinges. The largest door has a piece missing from the top hinge. So it still opens and closes. And it will stay open if you open it slowly and barely. Once it swings past a certain point the hinge will fall off of the icebox. I personally would not repair it I love the condition is in.
It measures 4 3/4" wide 6 1/4" tall 3" deep. It is signed on the bottom with 1471, then a small 3 below that. And most importantly it says PAT APPLD FOR! So this is one of the earliest versions of this icebox. Truly a collectors item. The ice
