John Halifax gentleman Mrs. Craik With Inscription By Victoria Sackville-West A very rare one off. The book itself is an antique copy of John Halifax Gentleman by Mrs. Craik published by Scott around the turn of the century the book has some damage and has been repaired with tape at some point But what makes this rare is the inscription and signature on the inner page The inscription reads: “To Robertson With every good wish for Xmas 1905. from Mrs Sackville-West” This has been signed by lady Sackville West is Victoria Josefa Dolores Catalina Sackville-West (1862–1936) I have researched her writing and signature online and as you will see if you do the same it is a perfect match. Who Robertson is, I have been unable to identify but maybe a worker on her behalf and the Sackville-West family. If you have any questions or would like more images please contact me
