This is a vintage Native American 18" necklace with sterling silver badger claw and a piece of turquoise mounted on top. On either side of the claw are two walking Mercury dimes that have been made into beads the dates on one bead are 1944 and 1942 the other bead is 1942 and 1943. There are other silver beads and heishi shells. The literal meaning of heishi is shell and specifically refers to pieces of shell that have been drilled and ground into beads and then strung into necklaces. It is a stylish, well - made necklace and is ready to find another good home. It is in excellent condition considering its age. I do not polish the jewelry as some people like the patina.
